I enjoyed this book. I purchased this book and “How to Catch Santa” for my children as gifts from their elf on Christmas Eve This one seemed to fit the personality of my youngest daughter based upon other reviews. I found the rhetoric to fit fairly easily into the tonal pattern of the traditional “night before christmas” story and didn’t find it awkward as others have mentioned. It didn’t capture my daughters attention quite as much as I would have liked (she’s 3) and I think that I related to the story much more than she did. I’m guessing that she would enjoy it more around 6 or 7 years old as the idea of a “hectic” holiday becomes more apparent. Overall, a cute story. I enjoyed the graphics and illustrations and it was a great purchase for the price.

Horrible book. I bought the whole series and returned this one. How could it be that the keystone book in the series is the worst? I implore Natasha to write a second Christmas book minus the cynicism. It’s all about a Christmas gone bad and shopping. I truly don’t understand how such a magical series includes such a lemon. Amazon actually said I can keep it and refunded my money BUT I am still returning it as I don’t want my daughter reading it. No neat Santa content or warmth to it at all. Save yourself the time and do not buy this. All the rest are adorable! My favorite so for is St. Patrick’s day and Valentine’s.

The story is too negative. Other reviewers said it, but I thought I would try it out. But really, it’s too negative. Too bad…Christmas is such a fun time…not sure why she took the story this way. She could have really made it fun for kids, but instead it’s all about the woes of adults. We still read it and my 4 year old daughter seems okay with it, but I wouldn’t have bought it if I had read the whole thing through first. Our favorite is The Night Before Halloween. Everyone in our family loves that book…it’s super cute. This, not so much.
